“The funding kindly provided to me by Lumbs Educational Foundation has contributed towards the tuition fees for my Graduate Diploma in Law at Cardiff University. As there is no other funding or Government loans for this course, I am very grateful for the support they have provided. ”

“I would like to thank the Trustees for awarding me a grant towards the cost of a MacBook. I applied because I am studying for a degree in Audio and Music Technology at the University of the West of England and needed to replace my current MacBook…I am currently using my MacBook to work on a project exploring architectural acoustics.”

"Being a Masters student and coming from a single parent household, the expenses of my networking trip would not have been possible without the support of Lumbs. Being able to showcase my work in front of NGO members, professors, volunteers and students is of great value for my future line of work in marine conservation."

"I am a great deal closer to being able to afford my MFA Fine Art Studies at The Slade School of Fine Art, UCL. This course is extremely competitive and expensive and as an artist from a low income family in Cheltenham, I couldn't be more grateful. I feel that Lumbs are genuinely interested in my projects and personal development."

The money granted to me by Lumbs has helped me so much with transportation to and from university. I chose to stay living at home, due to the high cost of living, so the cost of transportation can get quite high and the grant has really helped me to afford my trips to attend lectures. It has also helped me to afford the necessary equipment to further my ecological identification skills, as I have managed to get a good pair of binoculars which prove useful for identifying animals.

"I started my languages teacher training year in September, after finishing my languages degree at university. My previous laptop, which had served me well throughout my years in education, had started to slow down, so I requested an award from LUMBs to put towards a new, modern laptop. The foundation very kindly granted me the award of £500, and I have been able to afford and get the most out of my new laptop as I embark on the most important training year of my life. I have been able to easily plan lessons, organise curriculum databases and create engaging resources with my upgraded laptop, and I cannot thank LUMBs enough for their generosity and support for the teaching profession."

"This grant has been incredibly useful and beneficial to me this year as I have had to produce even more work than last year so many of my art materials ran out quicker than I expected but knowing I was able to afford new materials allowed me to worry less about limiting my artwork and the mediums I used and to focus on my course and the quality of work I was creating. Thanks to this grant, I was able to achieve a first in every one of my modules in which the money would have funded, with my other modules in which I had to write essays, achieving either firsts or 2:1. I am very grateful for this money and it has allowed me to go into my final year with a strong start to carving out my own personal art style and subject matter. "

"I am a second-year Psychology student at the University of Oxford. During my course, the Lumbs Educational Foundation has been extremely generous in awarding me grants to help cover the cost of my course materials. This support has been enormously helpful, particularly in enabling me to purchase essential textbooks and manage the extensive reading lists required for my degree. Thanks to this assistance, I have been able to focus fully on my studies without the added financial stress of acquiring key academic resources. I am tremendously grateful for the Foundation’s support and would highly recommend that local students who may be in need of financial assistance reach out to explore the help available."
